PATH OF STPM STUDENTS
During the time when i study for STPM, numerous people have asked me, " Why choose STPM?"
When I first started my days as STPM student, I saw lots of students who join the orientation programme. however, in just a few weeks, the number of students dropped tremendously and by the end of the first month, only 15 students are left in my science stream class. Some students asked for a transfer to different stream while others had left to pursue their studies - either in college or doing foundation and matriculation and etc.
STPM is indeed a very though exam. But still, it teaches you the true meaning of hard work just like any other though exam. Just imagine that feeling you get when u score your STPM exam........ it is irreplaceable.
Back in the 80's the only way to get into Universities is through the STPM. But that was history. Now, there are multiple options available such as Foundation programme, matriculation, diploma and etc. Besides that, private universities and colleges has grown like mushroom these days so you don't have to worry about not getting any seats due to heavy competitions.
I believe the reason why some students choose STPM route is,
1. Recognised internationally
STPM is among the course recognised by many Universities including Overseas especially those within the Commonwealth of nations as well as US as it is equivalent to GCE-A-level. The only different is the cost fees.

2. STPM reputation
Few people brave this route to challenge themselves. In a year, among thousands of STPM candidates, only less than 10 students manage to get straight A's. To think that they only took 4-5 subject, less that 50% student could only obtain full pass in all the papers they sat for. Hard to believe right? Well, that's STPM.
3. Affordable Education
Besides STPM, SPM leavers could also choose to pursue their studies through many options. However, compared to these options, STPM cost are way cheaper. In addition, Malaysian Pre-university students also receive RM250 of BR1M. So it cost almost nothing.

4. student's choice
Instead of struggling for one and a half year with all those non-stop revision while donned in the unattractive school uniforms, they could have just took the more glamorous route in the institute of higher education. Then again, some people just love facing hardship and challenge and are made of sterner stuff.
Or, they just don't have a choice.
5. Learning experience

5. Learning experience
I must say, the STPM is certainly not for the slacker. You can trust me on this. So those of you with low spirits, I recommend you to avoid this route. Because according to most students, it involves a gruelling study regime and scoring As is extremely difficult.
On top of lessons, students meet for study group in the afternoons for several hours, and then they go home to revise what they have learnt. If that's not enough, most of them also went to tuition centres for more revisions. You just have to study everyday.
To make you feel better, they say that if you go to Form Six, the first year of university will be easier because you’re already used to studying hard, Another plus point is that sixth form classes are quite small which allows for more individual attention from teachers.
6. Finding their footing
Many fresh school graduates don't have a clue of their ambitions or what to do with their lives. I'm not sure if they even ready to step their foot outside their safe zone-family and home. So, the one and a half year during their STPM could give some time to plan their future.
To be honest, I'm glad that I choose the STPM route. Or else, right now I've probably be doing a course that would make me struggle a lot cause I only realised that science was not for me. Just a piece of mind..

The Form Six years were also a time for some youths to grow and mature. WHY?
Because I felt like I've grown up a lot in Form 6. Who would not? You have to work hard, work in groups and so on..
That's all for now, bye..
